Today I am going to teach you a very important but very basic English grammar. So as you can see from the title, today we are going to learn how to recognize a noun (n) , verb (v), adjective (adj) and adverb (adv).

Noun (n) is a person, a place, or a thing. That means that all the people, things and places around you are nouns.

Adjectives (adj) are words that describe the noun.

ex. A brown dog.

adj.

It tells me what the dog looks like.

Verb (v) is an action word ( ex. jump, swim, drink, eat, dance etc. ) There are also verbs that are a non- action words ( ex. think ).

Adverbs (adv) are words that describe the verb i.e. they tell us how an action was done.

ex. She swims fast.

v. adv.

NOUN The cat is beautiful.

n. v. adj.

ADJECTIVE She is cold.

n. to be adj.

VERB She walks slowly.

n. v. adv.

ADVERB We sing loudly.

n. v. adv.
